I’m Lorraine Tester from Norwich, Norfolk. I became a Galen Myotherapist because, as a Dog Trainer and Behaviourist, I saw first-hand the link between pain and behaviour. Many dogs were labelled as “stubborn” or “anxious”, but often their behaviour was their way of coping with physical discomfort.

To better understand this connection, I qualified as a Dynamic Dog Practitioner, allowing me to identify subtle changes in gait, posture, and movement that can indicate underlying pain or discomfort.

Seeing how pain affected dogs made me want to do more to help, so I trained in Galen Myotherapy — so I could learn hands-on therapy to address muscular pain, tension, and compensatory issues. This approach allows me to help dogs move more comfortably, recover from injury, and maintain mobility throughout their lives.

At home, I share my life with three rescue dogs, all living with joint conditions including arthritis, hip dysplasia and degenerative joint disease. Supporting them with Galen Myotherapy has given me first-hand experience of how physical comfort and emotional wellbeing go hand in hand. Two of my dogs have even been able to come off pain medication thanks to regular Galen Myotherapy sessions.

Combining my skills as a Dog Trainer, Behaviourist, Dynamic Dog Practitioner, and Galen Myotherapist allows me to take a holistic approach — assessing posture, gait, and behaviour alongside tailored hands-on therapy.

My goal is to help dogs move more freely, feel calmer, and live more comfortably, while supporting owners to understand the link between how their dogs feel and how they behave.
