I absolutely LOVE dogs! Big dogs, little dogs, you name it, every single dog has something unique about them and they never cease to amaze me! I have spent at least 40 years of my life living with dogs, many different breeds and each one has taught me something new! I currently have a cocker spaniel and a rescue street dog from Serbia.
My background is in Aromatherapy Massage working with Adults with Special Needs from physical disabilities through to learning disabilities and severe challenging behaviour and mental health issues, and I have been doing this for the past 19 years. I am also a certified Infant Massage Instructor and a Massage in Schools Instructor. When one of my dogs developed arthritis, I used to massage him and saw what a difference this made to him and his mobility and I decided to look into this further and I discovered Galen Therapy Centre and after a lot of hard work and input from extremely knowledgeable and talented tutors I achieved my Diploma in Canine Massage with Galen Therapy Centre in July 2017.
Massage works to ease pain and discomfort in a lot of different conditions, not to mention compensatory pain issues and repetitive strain issues and injury. Pain can also cause stress which can manifest itself in behavioural changes and it can be wonderfully therapeutic and calming for the anxious dog or dog in pain. This has been one of the biggest learning curves for me and it has totally transformed the way in which I view our lifestyles and the way this may, inadvertently, have an adverse effect on our dogs and their muscoskeletal health.
Between April 2017 and March 2020 I worked as a volunteer at Shoreham Dogs Trust offering massage to the dogs housed there, and this gave me a real insight into working with rescue dogs and the issues that they face.
I am able to offer a mobile service in and around the Worthing, West Sussex area.
