I was looking for something, an outlet for my passion for dogs. I found Galen and I realised it was special when I attended one of Julia Robertson’s Introduction to Massage Workshops. One of the dogs there was a retired Guide Dog. Her owner was practising the techniques that Julia demonstrated and her dog kept holding up her paw. Her owner didn’t know why she kept doing this.

Julia came over and she knew instantly that this highly trained, loyal, stoic girl was in pain and was trying to tell her owner that what she was doing was hurting her. Needless to say, tears were shed!

My beautiful girl Peggy was my inspiration. I wanted to do as much as I could to enhance and help her enjoy her life right to the end. She came to us when she was 8 years old and stayed until she was 17.5. I am a Cinnamon Trust volunteer and in a round about way this is how Peggy came to stay, and never left. She was a special dog. In her later years she suffered from osteoarthritis. The skills and knowledge I learnt with Galen meant I could ease her discomfort and help her embrace life. Galen is about pro-choice. Dogs don’t have many opportunities in life to make their own decisions.

Their myotherapy treatment is a choice. They can choose to stay and receive the massage, or they can walk away. If I’m doing it properly your dog will choose to stay and may even direct me to the exact spot that needs treatment!

What a joy and a wonderful gift our canine companions are.

It would be my privilege and my pleasure to treat yours.
