If you have been referred to a Galen Myotherapist following treatment with the Stem Cell Vet Clinic, please read the information below to learn how Galen Myotherapy works and what you can expect throughout your dog's rehabilitation journey.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM MY GALEN MYOTHERAPIST?
How does the process work?
Your journey with a Galen Myotherapist will begin with an initial conversation via email, phone, or WhatsApp to:​

Arrange a suitable appointment date and location, either at the Myotherapist’s clinic or in your own home.

Confirm veterinary consent and gather your dog’s medical and treatment history.

Request photos of your dog for postural assessment and information about their lifestyle, routines, and needs.

Ask you to complete the Galen Comfort Scale© to help establish a baseline for your dog’s comfort and wellbeing.
YOUR FIRST APPOINTMENT
During your first appointment, your Galen Myotherapist will introduce Positive PACT® — our choice-led treatment approach—helping your dog feel comfortable while beginning to build a relationship based on trust, respect, and empathy.

Your dog will typically receive up to four treatments, scheduled at close intervals, with each session reviewing progress and any changes since the previous visit.
​
Following the fourth treatment, your Galen Myotherapist will provide a report detailing postural changes and an updated Galen Comfort Scale© assessment. This will be shared with the Stem Cell Vet Clinic and, where appropriate, your first opinion vet.
​
Any recommendations for ongoing treatment and support will then be discussed with you, and we expect to see​ responses within 2-3 sessions. Prices vary so please contact your chosen therapist to discuss their rates. Your therapist will be working closely with you and your Vet to ensure that any recommendations for future treatments are appropriate.

Most Insurance companies cover Galen Myotherapy treatments, but please do check with them before starting your first session.

How can Galen Myotherapy help your dog?

The Galen Comfort Scale is a proven, measurable way of tracking changes in your dog's overall comfort. It has been used by our Galen Myotherapists and within our Distance Support programme since 2015.
This invaluable tool enables you to quickly identify any changes in habits and signs of discomfort, providing an opportunity to address these issues before they escalate further as well as tracking improvements.
