Service Description

Module 1 - An Introduction to canine posture In this Module, We will be exploring how to assess a dog’s posture, and some of the relevant components leading to postural changes, including: * Muscle pain * The implications of fascial dysfunction * Muscle instability Module 2 - Movement and Functional Movement In this module we will be exploring how to assess a dog’s movement, and some of the relevant components leading to how a dog moves, including: * Assessing good movement * Assessing dysfunctional movement * Looking at different gaits * What is functional movement? Module 3 - Techniques, treatment and Positive PACT In this module we will be exploring some of the guiding principles of Galen Myotherapy, as well as how and where to apply massage techniques, and the inclusion of Positive PACT® within a treatment scenario: * The application of massage techniques on humans * The application of massage techniques on the canine * Discussing Galen Myotherapy treatments * Discussing the principles and application of Positive PACT® * Galen Myotherapy guiding principles Module 4 - Environment and comfort scale In this module, we will be exploring the importance of: * What the Galen Comfort Scale is and what it means * Assessing the dog’s environment within a treatment process. Module 5 - Additional Behaviour This module includes two presentations by Sally Lewis, an Accredited Canine & Animal Behaviourist, Trainer, and a Certified Family Dog Mediator (https://knowyourdogdevon.com/about-2/). The presentations incorporate: Understanding specialisms within training/behaviour * What is a 'trainer' or 'behavourist'? * What is a specialism? * What are the benefits of you working with professionals that specialise? * Expanding professional networks Holism in behavioural practice * What is 'holism'? * The pillars of behaviour * Diet & Nutrition * Genetics * Stress *Epigenetics * Emotions * Personality * Learning & past trauma * Environment * Enrichment and stimulation * Exercise * Physical health * Physiology
