COURSE UNITS
Pre-Practical Modules There are five Pre-Practical modules which allow you to work at your own pace and to continually develop and expand your skills. Each module is consolidated with online tutor meetings to broaden and embed your knowledge. The modules contain unique resources such as videos on muscle placement which you can revisit time and time again. The modules can be studied alongside the theory units so you gain a deep understanding of muscle dysfunction in the canine early on in your learning journey.
During the modules, you’ll learn:
• Human and canine postural assessment
• Functional anatomy and biomechanics
• Assessing superficial anatomy of the canine
• Assessing canine biomechanics in relation to loading and posture
• Functional movement patterns and identification of compensatory issues
• Impacts of the environment on the musculoskeletal system
• In-depth learning of the relationship between pain and behaviour
• Theory and application of the Galen Comfort Scale©
• Positive PACT® treatment protocol (scientifically supported)
Unit 1 - Practicals The practical unit is focused on developing hands-on massage techniques and understanding of rehabilitative functional movement, enabling the confident application of canine myofascial rehabilitation and Galen Myotherapy techniques.
You will attend a block of 80 hours in-person. During which you will learn:

• Practical anatomy from a functional and applied perspective

Unit 2 (Theory) - Canine Postural Analysis Learners will study how to visually assess the posture of canines. They will build on their theory foundations and apply that knowledge to visually identify healthy and unhealthy postural presentations, then plan how to address those through Galen Myotherapy treatments, functional movement and environmental adaptations.
