WELCOME!

When movement changes, behaviour can change too.

Subtle changes in posture, movement or behaviour can be a dog’s way of communicating physical discomfort. A reluctance to be touched, difficulty settling, changes in confidence or an unwillingness to perform familiar movements may all be influenced by underlying musculoskeletal tension, restriction or compensation.

Galen Myotherapy specialises in canine massage, therapeutic exercise and myofascial rehabilitation to support comfort, mobility and functional movement.

Our approach considers the dog as a whole. We explore the relationship between the muscles, fascia and joints, alongside how the dog moves and behaves. Postural assessment, functional movement assessment and behavioural observation using the Galen Comfort Scale help us build a clearer picture of where movement may be inhibited or compensated—and how this could be affecting the dog’s comfort, physical function and behaviour.

These findings inform an individual programme of appropriate massage, therapeutic exercise and myofascial rehabilitation

Support for your dog, wherever you live - exclusive 10% discount using CONCANDSP26 at the checkout

The Galen Distance Support Programme gives guardians structured, professional guidance to support their dog at home. We help you understand what you are seeing and teach you safe, appropriate massage techniques and therapeutic exercises tailored to your individual dog.

The programme can also provide valuable insight for behaviourists supporting dogs whose behaviour may have a physical or discomfort-related component. By considering musculoskeletal health alongside emotional wellbeing and behaviour, we can help build a more complete understanding of the dog.

We believe dogs receive the most effective support through collaborative, multidisciplinary care. Where appropriate, we work alongside veterinary professionals, behaviourists and other suitably qualified paraprofessionals, sharing relevant observations and complementary expertise.

Together, we can create a stronger support network around each individual dog—with their comfort, choice, mobility, function and quality of life at its heart.
