ACCREDITATION

WHAT IS ACCREDITATION?

The Galen Myotherapy Diploma is accredited by LASER Learning Awards and has also been awarded a Premier Quality Mark. Here we explain what this means to you as a student so you can decide whether accreditation is the right choice for you.

WHY SHOULD I CHOOSE TO BE ACCREDITED BY  LASER LEARNING?

It’s hard to overstate the importance of external accreditation in animal health and associated treatments as it ensures we meet the regulations and the very high standards set by LASER Learning Awards, we adhere to best practices and it also ensures every student has the same quality learning experience. Along with the course being accredited, we also assess and moderate each student’s completed work both internally (IQA) and externally (EQA). In other words it will be assessed by your tutor then will be moderated against the standards laid down by LASER and Ofqual to ensure that the work has reached the level and standard required and that the assessments have reached the standards and levels required against the learning outcomes of course. Once the work has been IQA’d and EQA’d students will receive a certificate of accreditation from LASER Learning Awards.

DO I HAVE TO BE ACCREDITED BY LASER LEARNING?

No, it is not compulsory that every student’s work is externally accredited but if you do decide to have accreditation, the cost can be split over your monthly payment plan or alternatively paid on enrolment.

For International learners “the LASER award is recognised worldwide as a guarantee of quality courses and qualifications”. (LASER website https://www.laser-awards.org.uk/). We suggest that each learner checks on the validity of the accreditation in their own country and for their own professional requirements.

Premier award

WHAT DOES THE PREMIER QUALITY MARK MEAN?

The course is accredited, the learner is not accredited

Galen Myotherapy has been awarded the Premier Quality Mark by LASER Learning Awards which guarantees the exceptional standard of course. It reflects that the course has been thoroughly planned, based on learners needs and is subject to rigorous Internal Quality Assurance (IQA).

Centres holding the Premier Quality Mark award are subject to an annual Quality Review which may include observation of teaching and learning, discussion with the staff and learners, as well as checking relevant paperwork and procedures. This is to ensure that centres continue to satisfy awarding organisation quality standards. This means that the Galen Myotherapy Diploma is recognised to be of high quality, and you as a learner have attended this course, although the quality of your work will have reached the IQA standards of the course it has not been accredited through the LASER EQA.

HOW DOES THE PREMIER QUALITY MARK BENEFIT A STUDENT?

The Premier Quality Award means that the Galen Myotherapy Diploma course is recognised to be of high quality, and you as a learner have attended this course and your work will have reached the IQA standards.
This recognition of a course quality could be of great benefit to especially International students who feel that a UK accreditation is perhaps not locally recognised as one demonstrating the high level of course content and delivery.

A student can apply to receive a personal LASER learning Award certificate stating they have attended and achieved the course to the standards required of an accredited course, and that the certification is an award of the course quality, meaning the course is accredited, the learner is not accredited.

WHAT IS A LASER ACCREDITED AWARD?

LASER Learning Awards (LASER) is an awarding organisation regulated by Ofqual, the regulator of qualifications in England. Our Galen Canine Myotherapy Diploma and Introduction to Anatomy and Physiology are Level 3 courses that have met a very stringent set of conditions of regulation to make sure that all the qualifications have been delivered, assessed and awarded correctly.

To ensure that high standards are met, LASER carry out frequent visits to all approved training centers, which can include unannounced visits and continually check that the required standards are being met.

WHAT DOES IQA MEAN FOR ME?

Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) Galen’s own internal process for ensuring standardised quality of delivery of both the course and the learner. (This is for both accredited and non-accredited learners)

FAQS

WHAT DOES EQA MEAN FOR ME?

External Quality Assurance (EQA) once the learners work has been successfully processed and achieved by  Galen’s IQA team, it is then passed on for the LASER learning Awards professional quality team to moderate the quality of work of each student, along with course delivery and content.  (This is only for accredited learners)

DO I GET A CERTIFICATE IF I CHOOSE NOT TO BE ACCREDITED?

Yes, you will receive the Galen Myotherapy certificate and also a certificate from LASER stating you have attended a Premier Quality award course.

IS THE ACCREDITED VERSION OF THE COURSE ACCEPTED ALL OVER THE WORLD?

LASER states that their accreditation is accepted Internationally, but we do recommend that you check with your own authorities as to its appropriateness for your individual situation.

WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE IN THE UK IF I DO NOT HAVE THE ACCREDITATION?

Again, this comes back to your own personal and professional situation.  We would always recommend accreditation as our Galen Myotherapy Diploma is synonymous with external accreditation.  However, you may have qualifications and/or accreditations that are of a higher level or more specific to your professional requirements, therefore, it is a personal and professional decision.

IS THE QUALITY/STANDARD OF THE TEACHING DIFFERENT FOR BOTH  ACCREDITED AND NON-ACCREDITED?

Both the quality and standards are completely identical, along with support and levels of achievement.

IS THE MARKING/PASS MARK DIFFERENT FOR EITHER?

For either the full accreditation or the Premier Award, the assessing (marking) of the work and the achievement levels are identical.

IS THE COURSE CONTENT THE SAME?

Yes, the accredited and non-accredited course content is exactly the same.

ARE THE FINAL ASSESSMENTS THE SAME?

Yes, the assessments for both the accredited and non-accredited courses are identical.

IF I CHOOSE NOT TO BE ACCREDITED, DO I STILL NEED TO TAKE ALL THE ASSESSMENTS OF THE FULL ACCREDITED COURSE?
